Miles-Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Willie “Bill” Harden, age 90, who passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Sears Manor in Brunswick. He was a native of Ocala, FL living many years in Appling County and the past six years in Brunswick. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II. He was a retired mechanic for Sea Island Company; a former volunteer fireman on St. Simmons Island; very involved with the American Legion and the VFW and attended First United Pentecostal Church in Brunswick.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vivian Harden Lott; granddaughter, Stephania Hammond and parents, Henry and Vinnie Barber Harden.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie “DJ” Myers of Brunswick and Faye Gillespie and husband, Brad of Wisconsin; three sons, Willie “Dick” R. Harden and wife, Glenda, Henry Harden and Joseph Harden all of Brunswick; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother, Warren “Dub” Harden of Florida; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Miles Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Rick Brown officiating.
Interment followed in Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held one hour prior to funeral services on Friday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers were Robbie Harden, AJ Harden, Scott Carter, Patrick Carter, Randy Harden and Wadge Harden.
A memorial dinner was held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in Brunswick.
