Miles-Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Christine P. Barber, age 86, who passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Pavilion under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. She was a native of Bacon County living most of her life in Appling County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Vision Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Barber; father, Simon M. Peacock and mother, Victoria Medders Peacock.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy V. Barber and wife, Sue Nell of Jesup, Terry Barber and wife, Wynell of Baxley and Leon Barber and wife, Taphne of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, John Barber of Baxley and Vicky Jane Barber Crowe of Baxley; one great granddaughter, Samantha Gerald of Baxley; one sister, Betty R. Dyal of Tallahassee, FL; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Miles-Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Charles Hutcheson, the Reverend Dennis Bryant and the Reverend Carlton Rowell officiating.
Interment followed at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held two hours prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Boatwright, John Barber, Marty Thompson, Harold Dyal and Daniel Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were the Pavilion A Hall Staff, Comfort Care Hospice staff, Doyle and Annie Ruth Tillman, Franklin and Ann Barber, Edward and Mary Hipps, Ricky Claxton, Sandra Sasser, Dr. Errol Graham, Betty Livingston, Deanna Rudd, Marshal Anderson, Diane Hallman Brock, Diane Bennett, Russell Tanner, Mickey and Marilyn Bass, Roy and Elaine Bass, Mary Strickland O’Berry, Lucille Salter, Larry and Diane Barber, Nell Head, Stanley Smith, Staten Lewis, Jr. and Cathy Rowell.
