Nelda Jean Carter
Nelda Jean Carter, 65, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Jeff Davis Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Carter was born Dec. 25, 1945 in Jeff Davis County to the late Ira Carter and the late Lucille Duncan Carter. She was a beautician.
Survivors include her daughter, Candace Carter of Hazlehurst; two sisters, Janie Ray and Vonnie Copeland, both of Hazlehurst; one brother, Larry (Belinda) Carter of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Emily Parker, Elizabeth Parker and Hannah Morris and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Scottie Pitts officiating and Dusty Villalba giving the eulogy. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Stanley Gehlken, Tony Carter, Buddy Ray, David Sellers, Jonathan Copeland and Glenn Cook.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.
