Councilman Walker stated it has been a pleasure working with the mayor, council and city manager throughout the years.
Mayor Steve Rigdon stated that Councilman Walker has been an asset to the city and he really appreciates his service to the City of Baxley.
New business
The city manager presented the proposed budget calendar for approval. Councilwoman Betty Livingston made a motion to approve the budget calendar as presented. This motion was seconded by Councilman Walker and was approved unanimously.
City Attorney Alex Johnson reported that redistricting will have to be done this year and he has been in touch with the reapportionment office to try and set up dates to meet with them to review maps and decide on districting that will be within the state guidelines.
Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Esco Hall, Jr. made a motion to reschedule the regular council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 29 at 8:30 a.m. due to everyone being at the GMA Convention in Savannah on Tuesday, June 28. Councilman Mickey Bass gave a second and this item was approved unanimously.
Mayor Pro Tem Hall announced that he attended the Information Technology Committee with the National League of Cities in Kansas City last week.
City manager report
The manager reminded everyone that the CDBG Phase III (Mauldin Street) project is still ongoing.
He also reported that the engineer sent the plans and contracts for the T-Project and the project should be ready to let in December.
The manager presented another proposal on dredging from a company called L&L Utilities, Inc. out of Dublin. The total price on this proposal was $186,000.00 compared to the price from Georgia Rural Water for $108,000.00. Georgia Rural Water will be doing the project.
Jeff Baxley stated that on redistricting of voting districts everyone needs to attend the meeting that will be set up in Atlanta, because it will more than likely affect all council districts.
