Sheriff Benny Deloach reports that on April 21 a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a scam. The complainant stated she received a phone call stating she won $50 million dollars and a Mercedes Benz; all she needed to do was to send them $85.00 by Western Union. Please beware of “Scams!”
Other incidents
On April 17, answered a call to Phillipi Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A grandmother and a granddaughter had a verbal dispute. The grandmother wishes for her granddaughter to move from her residence. The grandmother was advised to seek legal advice on the procedure for eviction process.
April 17, answered a call to Omega Cemetery Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. The accident was turned over to Georgia State Patrol.
April 18, answered a call to Graham/Zoar Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated the front door to his residence had been broken to gain entry into his residence and also his storage building had been broken into. Nothing appeared missing at time of report. Investigation continues.
April 18, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to criminal trespass/damage to property, which led to the arrest of Edrick Dee Clark, 41, of Lumber City. Clark was charged with criminal trespass.
April 19, answered a call to Highway 341 East in reference to a one-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
April 19, answered a call to Highway 141 in reference to a one-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
April 19, answered a call to Post Road in reference to simple battery. A complainant stated while sleeping on her couch two subjects came inside her residence and attacked her. The subjects left the residence before officers arrived. Warrants were secured for the arrest of Jennifer Gallion, 32, of Baxley, and Alecia Hatten, 27, of Baxley. Both warrants were issued for battery.
April 19, answered a call to Wilcox Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found stuck in the mud in a field. The owner of the vehicle was located the next day and the vehicle was moved.
April 20, answered a call to Sandy Road in reference to a civil issue. A complainant stated his wife had taken several of his fishing rods, two drills, two BB guns and a GPS and then pawned the items.
April 20, answered a call to East River Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her two-person deer stand was stolen and she found it at a local pawn shop. Investigation continues.
April 20, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated he had three power tools stolen from his workshop. Investigation continues.
April 21, a routine traffic stop on Jekyll Road led to the arrest of Deboris Tremayne Wilcox, 30, of Hazlehurst. Wilcox was charged with VGCSA/marijuana and driving while unlicensed.
April 22, answered a call to Deen Landing Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated he found a gunshot hole in the right side rear panel of his vehicle. Investigation led to the arrest of Jerry Lewis Sellers, 71, of Baxley. Sellers was charged with reckless conduct.
April 22, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident, which led to the arrest of Crystal Rose Teston, 23, of Baxley. Teston was charged with failure to drive within single lane, DUI/drugs, and possession of Schedule III controlled substance.
April 23, answered a call to Hart Street/Surrency in reference to a theft. A complainant stated missing from her residence is her Husqvarna push mower and five-gallon gas can. Investigation continues.
April 24, answered a call to Corey Street in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his neighbor drove a small tractor in his yard doing damage to his property.
April 24, answered a call to Highway 121 in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated someone entered his residence and took his big screen T.V. valued at $385.00. Investigation continues.
