Patricia loved to travel. She had an infectious personality, making friends wherever she went and no matter where she traveled always seemed to run into someone she knew. Patricia was an avid pea and vegetable sheller and claimed that she could shell faster than anyone she knew. She loved her church, attending gospel sings and spending anytime she could with her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Emma Cain.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Welch of Waycross; two sons, Terry Michael Hayes of Blackshear and Keith Hayes and his wife, Karen of Blackshear; a daughter, Rhonda Beverly of Waycross; eight grandchildren, Brandon Hayes, Leah McCrae and her husband Chris, Daniel Presley Hayes, Kasi Hayes, Kinsey Hayes, Aaron Overstreet, Logan Beverly and Jagan Hayes; six great grandchildren, Jania Taylor, Macy Jett Hayes, Michael Miller, Malechi Miller, Timothy Miller and Kassidy Miller; seven sisters, Bonnette Smith of Eastman, Sandra Miles and her husband, Billy of Waycross, Jackie Herrington and her husband, Bobby of Baxley, Kay Smith and her husband, Larry of Athens, Shirley Phillips and her husband, Tommy of Baxley, Debbie Stewart and her husband, Tony of Alpharetta and Cathy Atkins and her husband, Dale of Baxley; a brother, William Cain and his wife, Toni of Baxley and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
