The Appling County Pirates faced Pierce County on April 14 losing 2-6. The Pirates then hosted Islands High on April 18 for a double-header winning both, 5-0 and 7-2. The Pirates are scheduled to face Wayne County on April 21 and have a make-up game against Jeff Davis with the date undecided.

Nick Spell’s single propels the Pirates past Islands, 7-2
Four first-inning runs helped the Appling County Pirates to a 7-2 win over Islands on Saturday.
The Pirates scored in the first on an RBI single by Nick Spell, a passed ball, and a two-run single by Casey Griffin.
Jake Britt racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Pirates. He singled in the first, second, and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
Stacy Davis looked sharp on the rubber. Islands managed just one hit off of Davis, who allowed no earned runs, walked five and struck out five during his seven innings of work.
Chandler Williamson took the loss for Islands. He allowed seven runs in seven innings, walked four and struck out six.
Two runs in the bottom of the second helped Islands close its deficit to 4-2. An error and a passed ball sparked Islands’ rally. Finally, Davis got Williamson to strike out to end the threat.
The Pirates tallied one run in each of the third, fifth and seventh. In the third, the Pirates scored on an error, bringing home Micah Rentz.
Mason Parker leads the Pirates to 5-0 victory thanks to 10 strikeouts
An ace performance by Mason Parker spurred the Pirates to a 5-0 win in seven innings over Islands on Saturday.
Parker struck out 10 hitters en route to the Pirates win. The Pirate’s pitcher gave up just four hits over seven shutout innings.
The Pirates got their bats going early, scoring three runs in the first inning to pull ahead of Islands. The Pirates scored in the first on an RBI double by Jake Britt and a two-run error.
Skylar Branch had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the fourth inning.
Charlie Harrell took the loss for Islands. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
The Pirates matched their one-run fourth inning with one more in the sixth. In the fourth, the Pirates scored on an RBI single by Britt, scoring Branch.
Pirates fall to Pierce 6-2
The Pirates fell to Pierce 6-2. D Martin got the win for Pierce. He allowed one run over four and a third innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Price Eason took the loss for the Pirates. He lasted just four innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as Pierce scored three runs on a sacrifice fly by C Williams and an RBI single by L Paul.
Pierce scored one run in each of the second, fifth and sixth. In the second, Pierce scored on an error, plating Z Goble.
After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, the Pirates faced just a 3-1 deficit. An RBI single by Skylar Branch set off the Pirates rally. Finally, Z Goble induced an inning-ending fly out from Jake Britt.
The Pirates scored one run in the top of the seventh to cut their deficit to three. An RBI single by Britt sparked the Pirate’s rally. The Pirate’s Nick Spell flew out to end the ballgame.
