Barbara Howell Edwards, 63, died Thursday morning (June 9, 2011) at Kansas City Hospice House of Kansas City, MO following an extended illness.
She was a native of Ware County and had lived most of her life in Ware and Appling Counties. She had made her home in Kansas City for the past two years. She was the daughter of the late David Scholy Howell, Jr.
She had retired after twenty years of teaching school. She had taught in the Waycross and Ware County School Systems and the Appling County School System. She was a member of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City and a former member of Covenant Church of Baxley.
Survivors include her husband James Edwards of Kansas City; two daughters, Sherrie Edwards of Kansas City, and Olivia Edwards of Charleston S.C.; a son Chad Edwards of Baxley; four grandchildren; her mother, Margaret James Howell of Waycross; one sister, Ceceila Howell Campbell (husband Ronnie) of Baxley; one brother, James David Howell of Waycross and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday (June 13, 2011) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Monday at Music Funeral Home.
