Helicopter called to scene of accident
On Thursday, May 26, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Appling County Deputies and Appling EMA and EMS volunteers responded to the scene of an accident on Highway 121, South of Surrency.
Kevin Sumner, of Baxley, was driving a 1972 Autocar dump truck when a front tire blew, causing the truck to lose control and run off the highway. After EMS volunteers removed Sumner from the vehicle he was flown from the scene by a life light helicopter to Savannah. Shown above are local rescue personnel working at the scene of the accident.
