Connie Elizabeth Thomas was born on January 17, 1947 to the parentage of the late Earlie Moore and the late Ella Bails in Macon. Connie received her education in the Appling County School System. She was a member of Fresh Start Ministry, under the leadership of her daughter, Apostle Gloria Hood. During her membership she was the mother of the church until her health failed.
God unveiled His master plan and called Connie to her final resting place on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Memorial Heart and Vascular Institute in Savannah.
She was preceded in death by the following relatives: her parents, Earlie Moore and Ella Bails; two daughters, Valerie Thomas and Tara Wright; brother, Creswell Bails and sister, Rosalind Bails.
Survivors include her husband, John Robert Thomas “JR” of Baxley; five children, Angela L. Thomas, Terry D. Thomas, Apostle Gloria Hood (Danny), Gregory D. Thomas and Tamika N. Thomas, all of Baxley; a sister, Billie Moore of Palatka, FL; a brother, James Bails of Atlanta; a special son-in-law, Christopher Wright of Baxley; a special friend and sister, Gloristene Harris of Ft. Myers, FL; a special family friend, Marvin Owes; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28 from Greater Faith Temple Church of God In Christ with Apostle Lorraine Drake, presiding. Eulogy was given by Elder Norris Williams, Sr. Ashley Solomon, granddaughter, recited a poem.
Active pallbearers were Chris Wright, Ronald Ryals, Darius Miller, Steven Pearsey, Deonate Shaw, Vernon Dasher and Marvin McRae.
Friends and family served as honorary pallbearers.
Interment followed in Old Field Memorial Gardens.
Musical selections were rendered by the Greater Faith Temple COGIC Choir, Fresh Start Ministry Choir and granddaughter, Sheenie Williams.
Arrangements were under the direction of Baxley Funeral Home.
