The Recreation Department wants to congratulate all the athletes that participated in the State Track Meet in Carrollton, on May 13 and 14.
Appling County Schools had several students place. Aubree Swain, third in 800m, Mikaila Dixon, first in high jump, Amya Gibbs, first in shot put, Nya Spearman, second in shot put, Amya Gibbs, second in softball throw, Breona Dicker, second in 100m run, Aleasha Crayton, second in high jump, Mariah Gibbs, first in shot put, Cana Davis, third in shot put, Geral Handsome, third in 100m run, Tyqueria Jones, second high jump, Morgan Reynolds, first in shot put and third in softball throw, Ta’Dejasha Williams, third in standing long jump, Jamal Crayton, second in running long jump, Zachary Mayers, third in shot put, Letavius Nesmith, first in high jump (Letavius also tied the state record held by Michael Brown of Dublin from 1999), Nyzaia Buggs, second in shot put and third in softball throw and Devon Moore, second in high jump.
There are also some that still hold state records and the Recreation Dept. would like to recognize these athletes. Breona Dicker still holds the record for ten and under 50m run from 2009, Morgan Reynolds still holds the ten and under record for shot put from 2008, Kylee Reese still holds the record for 12 and under shot put from 1997, and Dennis Williams holds the record for 14 and under 800m run from 2009.
The Recreation Dept. would like to congratulate all the athletes on a job well done.
