Dear Jamie,
The Pavilion recently celebrated National Nursing Home Week May 8 - May 13. National Nursing Home Week is celebrated each year beginning on Mother’s Day. During this week, the residents and staff participated in many activities and daily events. On Thursday, we held an Auction and on Friday we had a “Jail and Bail”.
There are some people that I would like to thank. Without their help, these events would not have been possible. Thanks to Mr. Virgil Carter for serving as our auctioneer on Thursday night. Billy Brewer, Kenny Wright and Anthony Tillman donated their time to “arrest” those citizens who were served. Many employees of the system and citizens in the community willingly allowed themselves to be “arrested” and raised money to post their “bail”. Even some of the residents got arrested!! The wonderful merchants of Appling County donated all the items that were auctioned off and without them the auction would not have been possible.
The Pavilion is blessed to have the community support that we receive. Many nursing homes don’t get this support from their communities. I also want to thank the employees who donated their time to make these events possible. We were able to raise over $3,000.00 between these two activities. Every penny of this money will be used to enhance and enrichen the lives of the residents through activites and equipment such as wheelchairs.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped up celebrate National Nurshing Home Week.
