Eileen Carter Carson, 88, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the Pavilion. A native and lifelong resident of Appling County she was born Nov. 14, 1922 to the late David Robert Carter and the late Magdalene Fowler Carter. Eileen was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of Queen Ester Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carson was owner and operator of Eileen’s Beauty Shop for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. B. “Pete” Carson and two sisters, Hazel Reeves and Pauline Carter.
Survivors include one son, Bruce A. Carson of Baxley and a step-daughter, Anita Walker of Hopkinsville, KY.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne Bennett, Rick Brown and Jimmy Howard officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Clarence Harper, Clayton Harper, Pete Fowler, Clinton Aycock, Douglas Doyle, Lee Fowler and Greg Herrin.
Honorary pallbearers were staff of the Pavilion, members of Queen Ester Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by James Herrin and Shelia Kennedy.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
