Rosalind “Rosie” Ray Deal, 91, of Bristol, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at her residence after an extended illness. The Long Branch Community resident was a member and former Sunday School Teacher of Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was most known for growing beautiful daylilies, being an excellent seamstress, and taking care of her family.
Survivors are her husband of 72 years, Alton J. Deal of Bristol; four daughters: Paulette and Wayne Lee and Wanda and Paul Lewis, both of Long Branch Community, Gwen McCall of Canton, Aleta and Gerald Spell of Valdosta, one son, Ben and Amelia Deal of Long Branch Community; one sister: Iwilda and Gettis Spikes of Savannah; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and “special caregivers”.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Chapel Church with Elder Sam Bennett and Elder W.H. Durrence officiating. Interment was in Lake Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers were her family.
Visitation was held 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the service at the church.
