The Altamaha Technical College local board held its last meeting jointly with the Okefenokee Technical College board in Waycross this week. Jeff Baxley, ATC Board Chair conducted the meeting.
Two Okefenokee Technical College faculty members from the Railroad Systems Management Technology Program presented a short talk on the popular program, which will be new to Altamaha Technical College students. The Railroad Systems program started in Fall 2013 and is the only one like it within the State.
Jeff Baxley was recognized for his five years of service on the board. Mr. Baxley is leaving the board after serving as Chair for the last year. Acting President Lonnie Roberts said, “Jeff Baxley has done an outstanding job as board member and chair. He is well respected in the community and the entire service area, and Jeff leaving the board is a huge loss.” A plaque was presented to Baxley in recognition of his 2009-2014 service. During his term, there were 4930 graduates and 2899 GED graduates. In response, Mr. Baxley thanked his fellow board members for their service and told them how much he appreciated the relationships that have been established. He also praised the Okefenokee Technical College Board on how well they have all worked together through the merger process.
