Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach reports that on June 3, deputies answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a theft/illegal use of a credit card. The complainant stated her wallet was stolen with all her credit cards, social security card and driver’s license. The complainant called to cancel cards and found that the cards have been used several times. Investigation led to the arrest of Craig Callaway, 31, of Baxley, and Megan Linda Williamson, 27, of Baxley. Callaway was charged with theft by taking and ten charges for financial transaction card fraud. Williamson has ten charges for financial transaction card fraud.
May 24, answered a call to Bowers Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated stolen from her parked vehicle in their yard was a .22 caliber pistol. The pistol was entered into GCIC and investigation continues.
May 29, answered a call to Tupelo Circle in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated her ex-husband came to her residence and made threats towards her. The ex-husband was not at the residence when officer arrived.
May 29, answered a call to Valine Miles Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Two subjects had a verbal dispute. One of the subjects had left the residence before officer arrived.
May 29, answered a call to Tim Crosby Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated she believes a family member stole her black wash pot valued at approximately $300.00. Investigation continues.
May 29, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to threats. The complainant stated she has a boyfriend that has been abusive to her and she no longer wants a relationship with him.
May 30, a routine traffic stop on Old Surrency Road/ Highway 144 led to the arrest of Fernando Comacho Castillio, which was found to be wanted by the United States Marshall Service.
June 1, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated someone had stolen his Honda Rancher 400, four-wheeler valued at $4,500.00. Investigation from responding officer recovered the four-wheeler. The complainant stated he did not want to press charges for theft or trespassing.
June 2, answered a call Brenda Kay Yawn road in reference to stalking. A complainant stated a known subject continues to follow her. The complainant was advised of legal action she could take.
June 2, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had shot the front window to his work truck that was parked at the edge of the woods. Damage appeared to have been done with a pellet or BB air gun.
June 2, a fraudulent prescription for Xanax to a local drug store led to the arrest of Lisa Marie Brazell, 33, of Baxley. Brazell was charged with fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.
June 3, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassment. The complainant stated a female subject continues to harass her at her work place. Complainant was advised of legal action she could take.
June 4, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The complainant stated a check was stolen from a mailbox and a subject cashed the check. Investigation revealed that the subject that cashed the check was Aushalina Keeler Leggett. Warrants were secured for Leggett with the charges of theft by taking and forgery in the first degree.
June 4, answered a call to MLK Drive in reference to a scam. A complainant stated an unknown subject stated he was on his way to her home to do some repairs. The complainant did not authorize this company to do repair work at her home. An officer arrived at the home and waited for the offender to arrive. The offender never arrived.
June 4, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report fraud-financial identity. The complainant stated unknown person had filed an income tax return in his name using his social security number.
June 6, answered a call to Kersey Street in reference to a theft. The complainant stated missing from his shop is a Dewalt hammer drill and grinder. Investigation led to the arrest of Troy L. Harmon, 38, of Baxley. Harmon was charged with theft by taking.
CITIZENS, please beware of telephone calls stating they are with IRS or Social Security asking for your personal information, threatening legal action if you do not respond. Do Not comply with these type calls, they are SCAMS!!!
