According to Police Chief James Godfrey on Friday, June 6 at approximately 6:30 a.m. officers responded to an armed robbery call to Valero.
On arrival officers met with the victim who told officers that while she was opening up, a lone b/m person, approximately six feet tall, wearing a green jacket, blue slacks and had a grey shirt wrapped around his head came into the store with his hand in his jacket pocket in a manner that suggested that he had a weapon. The person then removed what monies the clerk had, and demanded her to open the register, where he removed an undetermined amount of currency, then fled on foot, out of the business in a westerly direction. A lookout was given out to the other units who were responding to the scene to conduct a sweep of the area for the robber. After a thorough sweep was conducted, no one was found fitting the description of the robber. A lookout was also posted to surrounding counties, in connection with the robbery.
Anyone who might have seen anything during this time is urged to contact the Baxley Police Department or the Appling County Sheriff's Office. Any and all information will be kept confidential.
