Kevin Johnson is graduating from ACHS as the most decorated athlete in school history. This past Mother’s Day weekend, Kevin finished third for the second year in a row in the 110 high hurdles, and captured his third consecutive state title in the 300 hurdles. Kevin’s time in the 110 hurdles was 14.81 seconds and he broke the school record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.18 seconds.
In the past four years, Kevin has qualified for the state track meet in a variety of events. His achievements have brought Appling County and the sports program notoriety and earned him a track and field scholarship to the University of Kentucky. Kevin finished fifth in the long jump, fourth in the 4x400m relay, and first in the 300 hurdles as a sophomore in 2012. The following year of 2013, Kevin grabbed a fourth place finish in the long jump, third place finish in the 110 hurdles, first place finish as a member of the 4x100m relay team, and his second state title in the 300 hurdles. On May 10th, 2014 Kevin once again finished third in the 110 hurdles and easily defended his 300 hurdle reign.
The young man owns two records for the Appling County track and field program. His records are in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.18 seconds, and shares the time of 41.81 seconds in the 4x100m relay with Al Jones III, Justin Moore, and Jordan Vann.
