Sheila Thompson of Guyton and Roderick Jefferson of Atlanta are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, LaToya Mignon Jefferson, to Anthony Marc Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jones of Surrency.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Roberts, Sr. of Guyton and Gracie Jefferson and the late Frank T. Jefferson, both of Quitman. LaToya is a 2000 graduate of Effingham County High School and a 2004 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She obtained her master’s degree and specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University and is currently working on her doctorate in Teacher Leadership at Walden.
LaToya is employed by the Effingham County Board of Education as a fourth grade math teacher at Blandford Elementary School in Rincon.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reed of Brunswick and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Jones of Surrency. Anthony is a 2000 graduate of Appling County High School and a 2004 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He received a master’s degree in Music Education from Boston University.
Anthony is employed by the Wayne County Board of Education as a middle school band director at Martha Puckett Middle School and the interim band director at Wayne County High School, both in Jesup.
The wedding ceremony will be held at First Baptist Church of Rincon on July 9 at 4:00 p.m. The reception will be held immediately following the ceremony at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler.
