Anthony Jerome Clark, 52, a native of Washington, D.C. and resident of Jesup, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 21, 1958 to the late James R. Clark and Alberta Edmondson-Clark. Affectionately known as “Lard” and “Cool Breeze”, Anthony was a delight to his family and friends. He attended the public schools of Washington, D.C. and graduated from McKinley Tech Senior High School, after which he served honorably in the U.S. Army and he was a former employee of Liberty County Sheriff Department where he worked as a jailer until his health began to fail.
Survivors include, his wife, Linda K. Drake-Clark and son, Lenny Drake both of Jesup; his mother, Alberta E. Clark, Washington, D.C.; his sisters, Serena Clark, Washington, D.C. and Sherry Clark, Baltimore, Maryland; mother in-law, Lillie Mae Williams, Jesup; sister in-law, Glenda Drake, Baxley; brother in-law, Johnnie (Charlotte) Drake, Baxley and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 12, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel in Jesup, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Emory Chapel United Methodist Church in Jesup. Interment followed in the GA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
