Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Dorothy “Dot” Eason Kimberly, 77, who passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin C. Kimberly; a son, Derwin K. Kimberly and her parents, Emil and Cleta Mae Eason.
Survivors include two sons, Mitchell Kimberly and wife, Darlene, of Surrency and D.J. Kimberly and wife, Megan, of Surrency; two granddaughters, Chesney Kimberly and Kristian Kimberly; two step granddaughters, Erika Tharp and Racheal Tharp; one brother, James Eason, and wife, Laverne, of Surrency; one sister, Genevieve Murray, of Surrency, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and other family also survive.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Wayne Williamson officiating. Mrs. Kimberly lay in state one hour prior to services. Interment followed in Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Stephen Carter, Dustin Johnson, Will Perry, H.D. Kimberly, Gary Cowines and Jeffery Murray.
Honorary pallbearers were the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class at Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
