Don Phillips has attended Appling Christian Academy for seven years. He has participated in the local chapter of the Georgia Association of Christian Schools Christian Honor Society for three years and served as president in his senior year. Don has been a participant in the Eagle football and baseball programs throughout his high school days. He was a member of this year’s Georgia Christian Athletic Association State Runner-up football team and the National Association of Christian Athletics National Champion football team.
Don has received the following awards: The 2010-2011 Georgia Department of Education’s STAR student award presented by the Baxley-Appling Chamber of Commerce and “A” and “AB” Honor Roll recognitions for four years while maintaining a 3.8 grade point average. He has been recognized and awarded with numerous athletic awards including national recognition in football this past season. The students selected Don to receive the Humility Character Award, the Success Award and the “Mr. ACA” Award. Most recently, Don was presented the coveted Eagle Christian Citizenship Award and the Faculty Award at the school’s honors program. He has been recognized for his academic abilities with various subject awards over the course of his high school career. Don will be a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship and other scholarships soon to be announced. He is an active member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst. After graduation, Don plans to seek God’s direction as he attends Georgia Southwestern University.
He is the son of Phil and Karen Phillips.
