LaShonda Deshea Williams, daughter of Warren and Seveta Lewis, died on March 1, 2014 at Appling HealthCare System under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice. LaShonda was born in Hazlehurst on December 7, 1976.
She attended the Appling County High School and graduated with the class of 1995. During her high school years, LaShonda excelled in basketball, cross country and track and field. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Brunswick.
Survivors include parents, Warren Lewis and Seveta Lewis of Baxley; two children, Courtney Williams and Dennis Williams of Baxley; one sister, Konkista (Demetrius) Ellison of Macon; three brothers, Warith Allah (Regina) of Atlanta, Al-Malik Allah of Carrolton and Stacy (Melissa) Lewis of Anderson, S.C.; grandmother, Johnola Robinson of Daytona Beach, FL; great-grandmother, Drissie Mae Williams of Baxley; aunts, Zephry (John) Kirk of Trenton, N.J., Belinda Gail Robinson and Demetrice Robinson, both of Daytona Beach, FL, Nettie Jean Burke, Charlene Howard and Teresa Bing, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Liz Ellen Williams of Baxley; one great-great aunt, Addie Hunter of Baxley; uncles, Alvin Robinson of Daytona Beach, FL, Larry Robinson of Baxley, Albert Lee Howard and Lee Early Howard of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Anthony Williams of Texas and Conrad (Margie) McDuffie of Albany; special great aunt, Christine Robinson of Baxley; three special nieces, Demetria and Kaitlyn Ellison of Macon, Georgia and Ashlyn Lewis, Anderson, S.C.; a special cousin, Lundynn Spearman of Baxley; two special friends for life, Charity Yawn and Zylphia Hansley, both of Baxley and a host of cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services celebrating the life of LaShonda Williams were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8 from First African Missionary Baptist Church with Supt. James C. Futch presiding and the eulogy given by Pastor Isaiah Allen. Interment followed in Old Fields Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Christopher Allen, Jason Allen, Charles Baldwin, Ronald Bell, Vincent Chance and Dennis Howard.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of SOURCE, Rescare, Excel Care, Dr. Teresa Cezar and staff, Appling Healthcare and Dr. Garland Martin and staff.
Musical selections were rendered by the Voices of Genesis, Tiffany Lewis, and the choir.
