Ruby O’Berry Morris, 77, of Surrency, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. Mrs. Morris was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and she was born Dec. 4, 1933 to the late Marshall Gordon and Mary Dykes O’Berry. She was a member of Ephesus Church of God. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Morris, sisters, Lula Smith and Nell O’Berry, brothers, Ben and Ermond O’Berry and great-grandchildren, Devin Shaye Calhoun and Amber Elizabeth Thomas.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Morris of Tallahassee, FL and Beth Morris Thomas of Surrency; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee and Jonni Morris, Gerald and Sherry Morris and Michael Morris, all of Surrency; one sister, Bessie Arnold of St. Marys; two brothers, Wade O’Berry of Folkston and Marvin O’Berry of Baxley; five grandchildren: Kevin Calhoun, Daniel Morris, Barbara Hewson, Daisha Vaughn, Dustin Morris and nine great-grandchildren: Kailyn Calhoun, Alisson Calhoun, Brittany Varnadore, Brianna Varnadore, Dannah Morris, Emily Perkins, Rachel Hewson, Alec and Bailey Hewson.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky McLaughlin and David Hubbs officiating. Interment followed in Zion Church of God Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Morris, Kevin Calhoun, Dustin Morris, Jeremy Thomas, Barbara Hewson, Daisha Vaughn, Lavan Vaughn and Larry Boatright.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
