The Appling County Pirates (5-12 Overall, 3-8 Region 1-AAA) defeated the Pierce County Bears (4-9, 2-8) on January 14 at home. Leading Scorers for the Pirates were Demonta Moore 22 points, C.J. Alexander 20 points, Leshawn Mobley 11 points, Travis McNeil six points, Maurice Paulk five points, Tobias Hagins three points, Brandon Jones and Devontae Wilkerson two points each. Leading the Pirates in rebounds were Tobias Hagins eight defensive, two offensive, Demonta Moore seven defensive, three offensive, Preston Johnson four defensive, Devontae Wilkerson three defensive, one offensive, Leshawn Mobley one defensive, four offensive, Travis McNeil three defensive, two offensive and C.J. Alexander four defensive, two offensive. Devontae Wilkerson lead the Pirates with six assists.
The Pirates next game came on the road at New Hampstead (8-10, 6-5) on January 17 with the Pirates losing 49-59. The Pirates finished the week hosting Johnson of Savannah (13-4, 10-1) on January 18 coming up short 71-80.
The Pirates will host Brantley County (8-9, 4-7) on Tuesday, January 21 and will travel to face Savannah High (14-2, 10-0) on Friday, January 24 with both games starting after the Lady Pirates contests are complete.
