Swain Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services of Mary Emma Davis. Mrs. Davis, age 89, of Baxley, died Monday, December 30, 2013, in the Bacon County Hospital System.
Mrs. Davis was born September 11, 1924, in Baxley and was the daughter of the late Ruby and Zeda Carter, Sr. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a retired seamstress. Mrs. Davis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Lawson Davis and two sons Donald and E. J. Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Jamie) Johnson and Linda (Lee) Jones, both of Baxley; five sons Ronald (Jane) Davis, Jerry (Regina) Davis, Stanley (Taffy) Davis, Dale Davis, and Jimmy Davis, all of Baxley. She is also survived by three sisters Vera Ahl, Genene (Edsel) Murphy and Nellie Fields of Baxley; one brother Ruby (Judy) Carter, Jr. of Baxley. Mrs. Davis is also survived by nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Riverside Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Justin McLellan and the Rev. J. E. Blanton officiating.
Active pallbearers were Chris Jones, Markus Davis, Blake Davis, Jeffery Davis, Wren Johnson and Brandon Griffis.
Honorary pallbearers were the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, Caroline Anderson and Staff, Deana Hoff, and J. L. Gay.
Visitation was held Wednesday evening January 1 at 6:00 p.m.
