Napoleon Bryant, Sr., died on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Lumber City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lumber City surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born to the late Walter Bryant and Kate Blaine Bryant on Tuesday, June 16, 1925 in Nicholls. Deacon Bryant was a faithful member of the Thankful New Jersey Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the choir. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country honorably and with distinction.
He was preceded in death by is loving wife, Ludella Ellis Bryant, along with other family members: Estelle Bryant, Virglene Bryant, Lois Bryant, Nail Bryant, Jessie Mae Bryant, Joseph Bryant and Lukey Bryant.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Melody) Wilson of Jackson, Miss., Napoleon (Danielle) Bryant, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Arlene F. (Robert) Williams and Kimberly Tinsley, both of Baxley; grandchildren, Damein L. (Saleah) Tinsley, Brandon S. Campbell, JaDon A. Harris, Ke’ Yuana Williams, Marquis G. Harris, Charles Williams, Diamond Bryant, Katelyn Bryant and Dominique Bryant; great-grandchildren, KaShaun Campbell, Deonta Campbell, Branyia Campbell, JaDon Harris, Jr., Marquis Harris, Jr., Mason Marshall and Konner Clemons; special friend, Malesha Boyd of Hazlehurst and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon at Thankful New Jersey Baptist Church on Saturday, November 9 with the Rev. B. J. Virgil officiating. Interment followed in Old Field Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.
Active pallbearers were deacons of Thankful New Jersey Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers were Southern Care Hospice and deacons of Thankful New Jersey Baptist Church.
Musical selections were rendered by the Thankful New Jersey Baptist Church Choir, Terrance Gibson, Jr., Kenya Williams and New Beginnings Heavenly Voices.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
