Barbara “Bobbie” Fennell, age 84, of Baxley died Friday, October 18, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Fennell was born March 4, 1929 in Appling County and was the daughter of the late George Wilson Moody and the late Lillie Mae Mercer Moody. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ezra Fennell, one brother, Gene Moody and two sisters, Josephine Carter Branch and Annie Ruth Howard. Mrs. Fennell was a seamstress for Douglas and Harper and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Appling County.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnne Switzer of Baxley; two sons, James (Louise) Fennell of Hawkinsville and David (Susan) Fennell of Baxley; one brother, Edwin Moody of Baxley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 20 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben DeFore officiating. Interment followed in Moody Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Scott Fennell, Kenyon Fennell, Kelvin Fennell, Joseph Switzer, Scott Ford, Anthony Pearce, and Justin James.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Branch, Scott Rowell, Tommy Youmans, Tracie McLean, Greg Carter, Michael and Rebecca Dennis, Ms. Johnnie Craven, Patsy Baxley, Larry and Beth Atkinson, the Adult Sunday School Class of Asbury United Methodist Church, and the staff of Community Hospice.
Musical selections were rendered by Debra Youmans and The Apostles.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
