James Willie Varnadore, 85, of Dublin, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin. Varnadore was born Jan. 8, 1928 in Appling County and was the son of the late Homer Green Varnadore and the late Daisy Mae McDaniel Varnadore. He was a Dryer Belt Operator with Monsanto Chemical and was a member of The Baxley Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Peter) Thornton of Brony, NY, Dianne Arthur and Stacy Johnson of Baxley, Judy (Raymond) Gault of Dublin and Cathy (Chuck) Kight of Sylvania; one son, Jerry Varnadore of Baxley; two sisters, Opal Gray of Crete, IL and Ettie Mae Vaughn of Baxley; three brothers, Lonnie Varnadore and Ezra Varnadore, both of Baxley and Dolvin Varnadore of Grant Park, IL; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 13) at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Swain Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John R. Hutto and Ezra Varnadore officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Josh Varnadore, Tyler Kersey, Raymond Gault, Jeremy Deen, Roger Varnadore and Ricky Varnadore.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and David Williams.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
