Tommy Medders, 65, of Alma, died at his home Friday September 6, 2013 after a short illness. He was native of Bacon County, son of the late Charlie Clifton Medders and Mamie Lee Allen Medders and was also preceded in death by six brothers, Frank, Doyle, Vernon, Albert, Buddy and Robert (Bud) Medders, and two sisters, Ruth Medders and Glenda (Pete) Medders.
Tommy retired from Flash Foods as a truck driver after 17 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sandra Barber Medders of Alma; six daughters, Teresa Bullard (Chad) of Baxley, Renee Sikes (Tim) of Hazlehurst, Jennifer Bass (Clint) of Baxley, Angela Dean (Alan) of Midway, Rhonda Waldron (Ben) of Bristol and Shawna Bennett (Johathan) of Alma; three sisters, Ruby Taylor, Reba Sweat and Reggie Hutcheson, all of Alma; and sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:00 o’clock at the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Ledbetter and the Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Crosby Funeral Home to help defray funeral expense. The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Active pallbearers were, Thomas and Shane Lightsey, Travis Rowland, Jerry Barber, James Turner and Tony Lewis.
Honorary were, grandsons, Tyler and Trey Bass, C.J. Bullard, John Allen Sellers, Southern Hospice, Calvin and Peggy Layport.
Crosby Funeral Home of Alma was in charge of all the arrangements.
