The Appling County School System would like to say, “Thank You” to our City and County Officials, and our community for working extremely hard to make our streets and roads serviceable. “You all have done an outstanding job dealing with this unique situation and we appreciate your dedicated work”, stated Superintendent Scarlett Copeland. “We would like to also thank our Parents and Community who have been very supportive of the school system during this trying week of weather.”
County Manager, Lee Lewis, has been instrumental in networking with the school system to provide information and assistance all hours of the day and night. County Road Superintendent, Tommy Davis, has coordinated with the county road department on repairs and has constantly updated our Transportation Director, Richard Riddle, on roads that were impassable and those that had been repaired for the past week. EMA Director Dane Bruce also played a crucial role in assisting with constant weather updates as the school system moved along throughout the week. There are others behind the scenes that have provided hours of assistance during this time and Appling County Schools appreciate your hard work as well.
The school system also thanks our community members who also assisted with road repairs without being asked. There were several farmers and good neighbors that assisted in their respective areas.
“It is great to live in Appling County where everyone is working as a “Team” to accomplish these difficult tasks! We again say, “Thank You” for your support,” concluded Superintendent Copeland.
