Considering the direction our country has been headed as of late…now might be a good time to really celebrate the freedoms we enjoy as Americans while we still can. I believe we live in the greatest country in the world, but our liberties are definitely being threatened more and more.
What does Independence Day mean to you? I think about the bravery of the men and women that fought to secure our freedom from tyranny. However, I feel that our freedom is now constantly under attack by our very own tyrannical government. The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Jan. 9-13 among 1,502 adults, finds that 53% think that the (US) government threatens their own personal rights and freedoms while 43% disagree. Now I’m not one to bet the bank on surveys and polls, but I do believe people are finally starting to stand up and take notice of the attacks on our liberty.
So as you gather around the barbeque or spend time with your family this Independence Day, I encourage you to think about liberty and ask yourself this simple question, “How much freedom am I willing to give up?”
If you feel the same way I do, I believe it is time to right this sinking ship.
God bless you and your family this Independence Day and God please continue to bless the United States of America.
One thing the Pew Research does not indicate is whether that threat to freedom is from the right or the left. My observation is that over the last 30 or so years, the biggest threat to our American way of life has come from the right and the new form of economic slavery that has been imposed on the people who do the hard work in this nation while a few sit in their offices making millions and billions a year.
