Edith Watson, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Watson was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Appling County where she had resided until moving to Jacksonville, FL. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Church of God in Jacksonville, FL. Edith was the daughter of the late William Lamb and the late Mildred Roberson Lamb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Watson, sister, Erma O. Cain, brother, Carl Lamb and grandson, David Rook.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda and husband, Lewis Spires of Folkston and Sherry Jones-Heath and husband, Terry of Jacksonville, FL; four sons, Clayton Watson and wife, Brenda of Dothan, AL, Richard Watson of Callahan, FL, Larry Watson and wife, Annette of Jacksonville, FL and Johnny Collins and wife, Carolyn of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Cheryl Beecher of Darien, Yvonne Ryals of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara Ryals of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Ronnie Lamb of Darien; fifteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Simmons and Phillip O’Steen officiating.
Interment followed in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery in Surrency.
Active pallbearers were James Lightsey, Justin Watson, David Gilley, Rick Jones, Ryan Jones, Henry Youngblood and Austin Lightsey.
Musical selections were rendered by Andrea Augustine and Lewis Spires.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
