On Friday, May 24, 2013 angels were dispatched from Heaven to bring a loved one home to suffer no more. Miss Ashley Denise Jones transitioned from earth to glory at the Appling Healthcare System in Baxley. Ashley was born in Baxley (Appling County) on August 16, 1986 to Verdell Hood and attended the Appling County School System.
Ashley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Laura Mae Hood, Roosevelt Hood, Sr., Evangelist Imogene Crayton and one aunt, Marsha Crayton.
Survivors include her loving son, Amarion Jones; parents, Verdell Hood Teasley (Gerron), Bobby Joe Crayton (Karon) and Joe A. Jones (Allison); sisters, Shonda Hood, Alexis Jones, Josephine Jones, Nora Baker, Bridgett Carter, April Hayes, Eva Mae Harmon (Joe) and Tina Hayes; brothers, Gerron T. Crayton (Gina), Joseph Jones, Bobby Coley, Bobby Crayton, Jr., Robert T. Gibson, Greg Baker (Gracie) and Brad Baker (Rhonetta); grandmother, Pearl Gallomore; aunts, Pearlie Mae Pearsey (Vernard), Shirley Hood, Mickey Coley (Donnie), Joan Williams (Jefthor), Pastor Sarah Ruth Mims (Melvin), Sarah Jo Coggins (Larry), Vernell Miller, Juanita Parker and Mammie McNeal; uncles, Roosevelt Hood, Jr. (Elizabeth), Paul James, Andrew Hood, Henry Hood, Lennie Crayton, Jessie Crayton (Gussie) and Samuel Haward; special friends, Kenny Edwards and Ike Johnson, Jr.; godparents, Reatha Mae Carter (Linny) and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great aunts, great uncles, cousins and family and countless friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Life Cathedral Mission, Inc., 370 North Boulevard, Baxley, with Pastor Tabatha Clements presiding and Elder Chris Clemons officiating. Interment followed in Morris Steel Cemetery in Appling County.
Active pallbearers were Jessie Crayton, Wesley Fountain, Henry Hood, Jermal Fountain, Gary Gallomore and Norris Pearsey.
Honorary pallbearer was Sanjanetta Teasley.
Musical selections were rendered by the Life Cathedral Mission Choir and Anthony Moore.
Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
