Florida, next to our home state of Georgia, is my and B. J.’s most traveled state in the U. S. From the St. Mary’s River to Key West, from Fernandina to the Alabama-Florida state line and central Florida, we have threaded and crisscrossed the Sunshine State countless times across the years. As timeshare owners, we have, in a manner of speaking, lived in Florida.
Kissimmee/Orlando is one of our favorite places in Florida. We have been to Disney World twice, Sea World twice, Universal studios and a number of fun but less prominent places.
Our pet locations to stay in Florida are Sea Garden at Pompano Beach, the Douglas House in Key West, Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, St. Augustine Beach, Bonnet Creek at Disney World in Orlando, Vistana Resort in Orlando and Star Island in Kissimmee.
We got a yearning to return to Kissimmee/Orlando so B. J. booked a weekend with Star Island. Star Island is a luxury resort/timeshare with a Spanish flair, surrounded by palms and located on the Avenue of Stars about twenty minutes off I-4.
We packed our travel rags and when B. J. got off work on Friday, I reined Little Red across the causeway to the mainland and spurred her south on I-95. We left Big Red kicking and snorting. I assured him that his turn was coming.
Apart from stops to refresh, it is approximately four hours from our house to Star Island. The traffic was somewhat heavy but the weather was good and B. J. was in a conversant mood for a while then she went silent. I looked over and sure enough, she was sound asleep. Little Red and I were sprinting along on I-95 while B. J. snoozed. She roused up a minute and I told her to get a good nap because her driving shift was coming up.
