Inez O’Brien Tillman, 95, of Surrency, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Inez was born August 27, 1917 in Montgomery County to the late Dennis O’Brien and the late Ida Vashti Walker O’Brien. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was shown recognition in service and devotion in 2007; she was treasurer in United Methodist Women for many years and taught Sunday school in her younger years. Mrs. Tillman was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Moulton Tillman, two sisters, Ethleen Knight and Vitus White and four brothers, Hershel, Ernest, John and Herbert O’Brien.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Roy Starling of Surrency; two grandchildren, Melanie and Mel Young, Julie Starling and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Young and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. from Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverends Derek Hobbs, Greg Johnson and R.M. Warren officiating. Burial followed in church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike O’Brien, Jim Knight, David Eason, Wendell Johnson, Mike Lamb, John Van Brocklin, Landry Tillman and Gary Tillman.
Honorary pallbearers were Southern Care Hospice of Vidalia and all friends and family in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Eric Eason.
