I had heard of Cardy Edmundson and had met him at Annual Conferences and various places around the Conference. He was quite well known in the South Georgia Conference, had a reputation for being a faithful and dedicated servant of the Lord. He was a busy District Superintendent but he always had the time to shake hands and smile and say an encouraging word.
I got to know him even better in June 1986 when I was appointed to the Warwick United Methodist Church on Lake Blackshear in Worth County. B. J. and I were still busy unpacking our things in our new parsonage home in Warwick when we heard a knock on our door. We answered and there stood our tall, trim, and smiling Americus District Superintendent Cardy Edmundson. We welcomed him and he shook our hands and warmly welcomed us to the Americus District.
Although he was busy making his rounds to welcome other new preachers to the District, he didn’t seem hurried. He was cool, collected, and supportive and that would always be his manner.
Cardy was always there for us. I spent many hours in the District Office during those years that he was my District Superintendent. It was my enrichment and pleasure to visit with him and Dottie in their home in Cordele.
