Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst announces the funeral service for Larry Leroy Rogers, 76, who passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Miles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Rentz and Claude Diehl officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery near Lumber City.
Larry was born in Campbell, New York. He was the son of the late Jesse Clarence Rogers and Dortha Elizabeth Burley Rogers. He was preceded in death by a wife, Judy Rogers; brother, Percy Rogers and a grandson, Antonio Trei Bucio. Rogers was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Ingersoll Rand and was a member of the First Assembly of God.
Survivors include wife, Brenda Carter Rogers of Baxley; daughters and sons-in-law, Treci Rogers of Mooresville, N.C., Rebecca and Blake Briggs of Mooresville, N.C. and Elizabeth and Javier Bucio of Mooresville, N.C.; step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Pam Carter of Wilmington Island, Tammy Carter Carter and fiancé, Thomas William Harmon “Mexico” of Baxley, Gina and Claude Diehl of Wilmington Island, Julie and Carlos Griffin of Baxley, Tanya and Micky Best of Hazlehurst, and Teresa and Jimmy Jones of Alamo; brothers, Donald Rogers, Samuel Rogers, Gary Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Timothy Rogers and Bryan Rogers; special aunt, Beatrice Allen; special cousin, Gary Hakes; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers were Jonathan Best, Jason Best, Justin Jones, Michael Cleveland II, Kenny Rentz and Danny Smith.
Musical selections were rendered by the Praise Team of First Assembly of God.
