Connie Davis Mincey, 74, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013. A native of Appling County, Mrs. Mincey was born Nov. 7, 1938 to the late James Vernon and Willard Beasley Shipes. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Connie was retired from Douglas and Harper Manufacturing and was the world’s best Nanny.
Survivors include her husband, Carlton Mincey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Mickey Britt and Donna and Randy Newsome, all of Baxley; two sisters, Willene Floyd and Bonnie Carter, both of Baxley; three brothers, Vernon Shipes of Macon and Denny Shipes and Glenn Shipes, both of Baxley; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 36 nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26 at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Reverends Ben DeFore and Buford Taylor officiating. Interment followed in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Brian Britt, Benji Black, Ben Hilliard, Van Carter, Ted Mincey and Eric Mincey.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Sonny and Alice Douglas, David and Lynn Douglas, Lee and Doris Britt, Willie and Madie Adams, Frances Johnson, J.T. and Holly Pollock and Bobby McMillan.
Musical selections were rendered by Deborah Youmans, Debra Johnson, JoAnne Switzer and Laurie Upchurch.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
