Ret. First Sergeant Thomas Edison Beckworth, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Beckworth served in the US Army for 24 years and served three tours in Vietnam. He was employed at Kelly Springfield Tire Company for 20 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Waters Beckworth and a daughter, Brenda B. Raynor.
Beckworth is survived by two daughters, Marsha LaFontaine and husband, Michael of Wade and Susan B. Radtke of Eastover, NC; four sisters, Carolyn Lynn of Hazlehurst, Jean Googe of Rockhill, SC, Esther Underwood of Hazlehurst, and Merle Brewer of Lumber City; two brothers, Richard and Earl Beckworth of Baxley; eight grandchildren, Julie Collins and husband, Eric of Willow Springs, NC, Danny Barnes of Eastover, NC, Kelly Raynor of Fayetteville, NC, Thomas Raynor and wife, Alina of Fayetteville, NC, Kristen Radtke of Eastover, NC, Laura Gibbons and husband, Brian of Robbins, NC, Andrew LaFontaine and wife, Kristen of Hope Mills, NC and Jonathan LaFontaine of Hickory, NC; seven great grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Madison, Alyssa, Luke, Brayden, and Andres, and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 13 at the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery. The Reverand Mike McGirt officiated.
