James Roy Conner, 49, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Conner was born Nov. 11, 1963 in Jacksonville, FL. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and the Baxley Jaycees. He was an Army Veteran having served ten years of which was during Dessert Storm. His father, James Howard Conner, two brothers, Ricky and Ronnie Carter and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Carter, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ava Marie Conner of Baxley; two daughters, Mia (Terry) Senters and Myra (Steven) Brady, both of Baxley; his mother, Nellie Faye Carter Conner of Baxley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray (Merelne) Carter and Sherri Carter, both of Baxley, James (Amanda) Chaney of Waynesville and Cindy Chaney of Nahunta; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles (LaVerne) Chaney of Waynesville; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22 at Midway Baptist Church with the Revs. Marty Anderson, Michael Beecher and Rick Brown officiating. Eulogy was given by Steve Craven. Interment followed in Ten Mile Creek Church Cemetery with Military honors.
Active pallbearers were Steve Craven, Chuck Nail, Brian Hunter, Ron Harrelson, Larry Knight, David Sikes, Michael Beecher and Jeff Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were Hospice of South Georgia, nurses, aides and staff, Mens Sunday-School Class of Midway Baptist Church, Appling County Senior Class of 1981 and all friends and coworkers.
Musical selections were rendered by Rita Lipthratt, Cindy Chaney and the Rev. Rick and Julie Brown.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
