At the Baxley City Council meeting, held March 12, City Manager Jeff Baxley stated infrastructure needed to be extended out Highway 341 West from where the area was recently jack and bored with water and sewer service, approximately 1200 feet. Manager Baxley stated he has obtained a cost estimate of $75,000.00 to extend water and sewer service approx. 1,200 feet. Due to additional jobs being created, he stated that the City is pursuing a possible One Georgia equity grant to cover this expense. He also reported there would be a $5,000.00 fee to prepare the application for the grant whether funded or not. After discussion, Councilwoman Betty Livingston made a motion to proceed with extending the infrastructure 1,200 feet and try every avenue to obtain grant funds for this project. This motion was seconded by Councilman Tim Varnadore and approved unanimously.
