Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Mar. 1, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report identity fraud. The complainant stated an unknown subject is using her social security number. Investigation continues.

Mar. 1, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a possible theft. The complainant stated missing from her home is a set of sterling silver valued at approximately $7,000.00. Investigation continues.
Mar. 2, answered a call to Mincey Lane in reference to damage to property. Complainant stated a subject cut one of the tires on his vehicle.
Mar. 2, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a domestic dispute, which led to the arrest of Ashley Anderson, 26, of Hazlehurst. Anderson was charged with disorderly conduct.
Mar. 3, answered a call to Philippi Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a subject entered her residence and stole her wallet, which contained her cash, debit card, and checkbook. Also included was her social security card and driver’s license. Investigation continues.
Mar. 3, answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a dispute. The husband agreed to leave the residence until dispute could be resolved.
Mar. 3, answered a call to Hamm Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated her ex-husband came to her residence trying to cause trouble. The complainant stated she got her shotgun and he left the residence.
Mar. 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report child custody dispute. The complainant stated her child’s father did not return her child to her at the appointed time. The father was notified and brought the child to the sheriff’s office
Mar. 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassment. A complainant stated the father of her children tries to intimidate her for asking for child support.
Mar. 4, a routine traffic stop on Jones Street/Tollison Street resulted in the arrest of James Jadarius Solomon, 20, of Baxley. Solomon was charged with VGCSA/marijuana and seatbelt violation.
Mar. 5, a routine traffic stop on Polly Ogden Road resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Heith Ashmore, 25, of Baxley. Ashmore was charged with possession of marijuana less –than-an-ounce, a seatbelt violation.
Mar. 5, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office and reported a theft. The complainant stated an Evinrude motor was stolen from his boat. The motor was valued at $300.00.
Mar. 5, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A boyfriend and a girlfriend had a verbal dispute. The girlfriend left the residence before officer arrived.
Mar. 5, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a child custody dispute. A complainant stated his ex-wife would not allow him to visit with his children. Complainant stated visitation had been agreed upon through divorce decree filed in Lowndes County.
Mar. 5, answered a call to Oak Dale Circle in reference to a stolen vehicle.
Investigation led to the arrest of Linda Megan Williamson, 25, and Linda Denmark Williamson, 52, both of Baxley. Linda Megan Williamson is charged with false report of a crime, drugs to be kept in original container, and VGCSA/alprazolam. Linda Denmark Williamson is charged with false report of a crime, possession of drug related object and possession of marijuana.
Mar. 5, answered a call to Lee Woods Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated a subject continues to make threats against her.
Mar. 5, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to trespassing. A complainant stated two subjects were riding motorcycles on her property and she wants them to stay away.
Mar. 5, a routine traffic stop on Gail Street led to the arrest of Jonathan Paul Taylor, 38, of Baxley. Taylor was charged with DUI/Drugs, VGCSA/clonazepan, schedule IV controlled substance, drugs to be kept in original container, tire requirements, turning signals required.
Mar. 6, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report financial fraud identity. The complainant stated a subject signed his name to a student loan without his knowledge. Investigation continues.
Mar. 6, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a possible suicide attempt. The complainant stated she saw on Facebook a subject was going to attempt to kill himself.
Mar. 6, answered a call to Lennox Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated he is missing a gun from his gun cabinet and suspects a family member took the gun. Investigation revealed a family member took the gun. Complainant did not want to press charges at this time.
Mar. 6, answered a call to Iris Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a subject came to her residence and stole her pocketbook. Investigation continues.
Mar. 7, a routine traffic stop on City Circle Road resulted in the arrest of James Keilah Williams, 49, of Alma. Williams was charged with possession of marijuana, and child seatbelt.
Mar. 7, a routine traffic stop on Ten Mile Road resulted in the arrest of Shannon Michelle Courson, 38, of Baxley. Courson was charged with possession of marijuana less-than-one-ounce.
Feb. 22, answered a call to City Circle Road in reference to a theft/civil matter. The complainant stated he took two tillers to an individual for repairs in August of 2012. When one tiller was finally received it did not work and found that the other tiller was sold.
Feb. 22, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office along with assistance of other law agency’s conducted a school safety search at the Appling County High School. This search resulted in the arrest of two students where drugs were found in vehicles.
Feb. 22, a routine traffic stop on Fair Street led to the arrest of Jamal Lashawn Walker, 23, of Baxley. Walker was charged with drugs to be kept in original container, illegal possession of controlled substance hydrocodone, VGCS/crack cocaine, and VGCS/ (alprazolam). Citations were issued to the driver for failure to stop at stop sign and suspended registration.
Feb. 22, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road, which led to the arrests of Chanda Gail Bell, 36, of Baxley, and William Corey Orvin, 30, of Baxley. Both were charged with drug related objects.
Feb. 23, answered a call to Woodlawn Church Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found in a ditch with no driver and the vehicle was towed.
Feb. 23, answered a call to Gamble Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from her vacant property was a 1993 Ford Ranger and also a stainless steel oven. Investigation led to the arrest of Dana Michelle Hallman, 31, of Baxley.
Feb. 23, answered a call to Deveraux Road/ Surrency in reference to an unresponsive subject. A complainant stated he found Wanda Jones, 50, unresponsive. The Appling EMS also responded and the coroner was notified.
Feb. 24, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to an unresponsive subject. The Appling EMS responded and confirmed Juanita Armstrong, 83, of Baxley, was deceased. The coroner was notified and stated Armstrong died of natural causes.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Holt Rentz Road in reference to a domestic dispute. An officer talked with both subjects and they stated they had settled their problem.
Feb. 25, the Appling Co. Sheriff’s Office assisted the Georgia State Probation Officer to a residence on Iris Lane in reference to an alleged convicted felon had possession of a firearm. Alleged felon was not at residence, but firearm was found and taken into evidence.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Sandy Road in reference to theft of service. The REA notified the Appling County Sheriff’s Office of a resident that had turned his power back on after the power had been red tagged. The offender agreed to pay for the power.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Doris Street in reference to a domestic dispute. A girlfriend and a boyfriend had a verbal dispute. A girlfriend left the residence to solve the dispute.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Knight Sawmill Road in reference to a dog bite incident. A complainant stated while walking down the roadway several stray dogs ran out at him and one bit him on the leg. The complainant was treated and released from the hospital.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated she wishes to obtain a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend. The complainant was advised how to obtain a restraining order.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Clemons Lane in reference to a domestic dispute, which led to the arrest of Thomas Lee Williams, 23, of Baxley, and Valerie Lynn Shepperson, 21, of Richmond, Va. Williams was charged with simple battery (family violence) and Shepperson was charged with obstruction of an officer.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Gardenia Circle in reference to an unruly subject, which led to the arrest of Daniel Lamar Edwards, 27, of Baxley. Edwards was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Woodlawn Church Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he left his wallet inside a cooler in the front seat of his vehicle and later found the cooler and wallet was gone.
Feb. 27, answered a call to Beatrice Lane in reference to an assault. The complainant stated while riding his bike home a subject driving a vehicle hit him with the vehicle then got out of the vehicle and beat him with a club. Investigation continues, warrants pending.
Feb. 27, answered a call to Pecan Street/Surrency in reference to a home invasion. Investigation revealed it was a false report of a crime. Michael Perry Paulson, 32, of Pecan Street, of Surrency, was arrested and charged with false report of a crime, possession of marijuana, and giving false information.
Feb. 15, answered a call on Buckhead Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that a 9-mm High-Point weapon was missing. Investigation will continue.
Feb. 15, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had entered her vacant house and did damage to the ductwork and appeared to try to steal copper wiring from the house.
Feb. 15, answered a call on Poplar Lane in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a brother and a sister.
Feb. 15, answered a call on John Lewis Lane in reference to damage to property. Damaged was a vehicle.
Feb. 16, met with a subject at the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child custody dispute.
Feb. 16, answered a call to North Main Street in reference to a run-away juvenile. Juvenile was located and returned to her parents.
Feb. 16, answered a call on County Farm Road in reference to a house fire. The Baxley Fire Department responded.
Feb. 16, answered a call on Blarney Road in reference to a dispute. A complainant stated that the offender was intoxicated and was threatening to kill the complainant.
Feb. 17, answered a call on Ezra Lane in reference to a civil matter. A report was taken for documentation.
Feb. 17, answered a call on Altamaha School Road in reference to a house fire. Several fire departments responded.
Feb. 18, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to unexploded military round. Fort Stewart EOD team was notified, arrived and deactivated the M71A1 90mm round with a M78 Fuse by setting it off.
Feb. 18, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. Stolen was a Husqvarna lawn blower. Investigation led to the arrest of Jaran Brooks Herrington, 18, of Baxley. Herrington was charged with theft by taking.
Feb. 18, answered a call to Brown Street in reference to threats. The complainant stated ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend came to her work place making threats towards her.
Feb. 19, answered a call to Henry Thomas Road in reference to forgery. The complainant stated an agent from a roofing company came to his residence and falsely forged his wife’s name on a contract agreeing to roof his house. The company was notified by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office and the company agreed to shred the contract and apologized for the inconvenience.
Feb. 19, answered a call to Cadillac Drive in reference to harassment. A husband and a wife had a dispute when wife was trying to leave the residence. The husband had left the residence before officer arrived.
Feb. 19, answered a call to Avery Lane in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown person(s) broke a bedroom window to gain entry into the residence. Found missing was an H&R Model 732 six shot revolver valued at $350.00. The missing pistol was entered in GCIC. Investigation continues.
Feb. 20, subjects from Wayne County came to the sheriff’s office to report a rape of a thirteen-year-old female by a subject in Appling County. Investigation led to the arrest of Jeremy Varnadore, 21, of Baxley. Varnadore was charged with statutory rape.
Feb. 20, answered a call to Pat Lewis Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated unknown subject(s) had stolen $9000.00 worth of copper wire from a soil cement mixer and other equipment. Investigation continues.
Feb. 20, answered a call to Zoar Highway in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown subject(s) had gained entry to the residence and stole several items valued at $1,500.00. Investigation continues.
Feb. 20, answered a call to Daisy Lane in reference to an overdose. Two subjects were taken to the Appling Healthcare System for treatment for drug overdose for medical treatment. Both subjects were later placed under arrest. Andrew Trey Alexander, 20, of Baxley, was charged with VGCS/roxicodone and Crystal Rose Teston, 21, was charged with VGCS/alprazolam, and drugs to be kept in original container.
Feb. 21, answered a call to Tim Crosby Road in reference to fraud. The complainant stated she received a call from someone claiming to be from the U.S. government stating they had a check for her and wanting her personal credit card information. Please be aware of phone scams as this lady was and did not give any information!
