The annual staff of Appling County High School would like to invite everyone to come out on February 23 for the 45th Annual Miss Pirate Pageant. 2012 Miss Pirate, C.G. Stewart, will be crowning the new 2013 Miss Pirate. C.G., the daughter of Warren and Cindy Stewart, is a junior at Appling County High School.
Contestants include: Cortney Fountain, Autumn Wheeler, Taryn Boyette, Kathryn Brewer, Sydney Black, Callie Brannen, Bre Beecher, Lauren Kirksey, Blakelyn Carter, Anna Hodges, Rachel Snow, Ali Meadows, Logan Baker, Maysi Campbell, Alexis Sellers, Kasee Jones, Synclair Copeland, Carolina Kersey, Darienne Coleman, Madeline Rentz, and Shelby Williams.
The emcee for the evening will be Keri Crosby. Keri is a native of Baxley with a degree in public relations from Valdosta State University where she played on the women’s tennis team, ranked in the top 10 nationally. She currently works for Fram Renewable Fuels as an international liaison and marketing coordinator. She has been to over 15 different countries with her job.
Keri has been involved in pageants since she was Little Miss Baxley in 1993. She was Miss Pirate in 2003 and last year was 3rd runner up at Miss Georgia USA.
Entertainment this year will include performances by Ashton Baxley, D.J. Byrd, Luke Herndon, Elise Jackson, and Marie Parker. Also during the evening the top five Mr. Pirate contestants-Josh Deen, Zach Higginbotham, Gage Patton, Anthony Gibbs, and Hunter Leggett -will be vying for the title of 2013 Mr. Pirate. The audience will be allowed to vote for Mr. Pirate throughout the pageant. Mr. Pirate 2012, Gunner Hale, the son of Darien and Lynn Hale, will assist in the crowning. Both the Miss Pirate pageant and the Mr. Pirate competition are fundraisers for the ACHS Pirate yearbook. A portion of the proceeds raised in the Mr. Pirate competition will be donated to the Relay for Life.
The pageant starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Appling County High School Fine Arts Center. Admission is $5 at the door.
