Alexis Buchanan named STAR Student for ACHS

Principal Gene Starr presented the award to Buchanan at the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting held on January 29. Buchanan selected Cynthia Hatchett as her STAR Teacher. The STAR program, now in its 55th year, has honored more than 23,500 students and teachers that have been selected as having had the most influence on a school’s academic success. To receive the award students must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent of their class based on grade-point average.
