On Thursday, January 12, 2013, Lillie Naomi Williams Jackson transitioned from earth to glory at the Pavilion Nursing Home in Baxley. Mrs. Jackson was born in Baxley, Appling County on Dec. 26, 1930 to the late James Campfield Williams and the late Irene Floyd Williams. Mrs. Jackson was united in Holy matrimony to the late Calvin Jackson, Jr.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by children: Carol D. Jones, Otha Nell Jackson, Malana E. Solomon, Melva Jean Farrington, Sylvia A. Jackson, Wilton F. Jackson, Timothy W. Jackson and Scottie L. Jackson.
Survivors include a daughter, Lugenia J. (Eugene) Pierce of Waycross; three sons, Ronald C. Jackson, Calvin Jackson III, both of Baxley and Kelton A. (Cynthia) Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; five sisters, Allifair Jones and Jearlean Barron, both of Miami, FL, Ophelia (Eugene) Walker of Baxley, Versie L. Brown of Atlanta, and Zora E. Brown of Miami, FL; one brother, Charles (Carrie) Williams, Jr. of Baxley; son-in-law, Arthur L. Solomon of Middleburg, FL; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Debra Lloyd and Allen Cray, both of Baxley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and countless friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Feb. 2 from St. James AME Church with Bishop Lucious Rogers officiating and Antoine E. Walker presiding.
Active pallbearers were Victor Cray, Preston Farrington, Arthur Solomon, Jr., Prentice Farrington, Christopher Frederick and David Shavers III.
Honorary pallbearers were Appling Healthcare Pavilion-B Hall.
Musical selections were rendered by Terrance Gibson, Carletha Wright and the choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
