Pirates basketball update
The Appling County Pirates travelled to Pierce County on January 15 with the Pirates winning 75-67. Leading scorers for the Pirates were Ronald Handsome 22 points, C.J. Alexander 16 points, Anthony Rayner 15 points, Heisman Johnson nine points, Kevin Johnson six points and Jordan Vann five points.
The Pirates next contest came at home against New Hampstead with the Pirates winning 68-32. Leading scorers were Ronald Handsome 19 points, Heisman Johnson 12 points, Jordan Vann 11 points, C.J. Alexander nine points, Tobias Hagins five points, Anthony Gibbs three points, Maurice Paulk three points, Davontae Wilkerson two points and Brandon Jones two points.
The Pirates then travelled to Wayne County for a non-region contest with the Pirates coming up short 50-67. Leading scorers were Ronald Handsome 26 points, Heisman Johnson eight points, C.J. Alexander five points, Jordan Vann four points, Vernon Dasher four points and Tobias Hagins two points.
