Sheriff Benny Deloach gives update on activity
Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
March 4, a routine traffic stop on Highway 15 resulted in the arrest of Guadalupe Ramirez, age 37, of Hazlehurst. Ramirez was arrested and charged with driving without a license and D.U.I. 2nd. Ramirez has since been released on bond.
April 1, answered a call to Hollis Street in reference to a civil matter. A complainant stated his ex-wife walked in his residence without his permission. The complainant was advised to see magistrate.
April 1, answered a call to Pleasant Grove Church Road in reference to littering. A complainant stated person(s) unknown threw out an oxygen tank and an acetylene tank.
April 1, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) entered her residence and took a Sony 19 inch TV, a Yamaha acoustic wooden guitar, and an Epiphone Gibson electric guitar. Investigation continues.
April 2, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a dog-shooting incident. A complainant stated that her neighbor shot two small dogs. The complainant was advised to see magistrate court.
April 2, answered a call to Alpine Drive in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated person(s) unknown had spray-painted the side of her house.
April 2, answered a call to Quail Hollow Road in reference to damage to property incident. A complainant stated known offender had keyed his truck. The complainant stated if the offender wouldn’t pay for it to be fixed he would press charges.
April 2, answered a call to Luckie Street in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole her wedding rings off the table at the tanning bed. Investigation continues.
April 2, answered a call on Blackshear Highway in reference to damage to a mailbox. A complainant stated that person(s) unknown hit her mailbox and bent it. The officers noticed that several other mailboxes had been damaged also.
April 3, answered a call to Crummy Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole a Dell flat screen TV and modem. Investigation continues.
April 3, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole her camera. Investigation continues.
April 3, a routine traffic stop on Wilkinson Road resulted in the arrest of Davie Richard Hand, age 30, and Michelle Ann Welch, age 25, both of Jesup. Both parties have been charged with V.G.C.S.A.
April 3, answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a dirt bike accident. The victim was riding a dirt bike in the yard and fell. The subject was taken to the Emergency Room to be checked out.
April 4, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had broke into their residence and stole two jewelry boxes containing one Rolex watch, 1-1/4 carat engagement ring, costume jewelry, diamond earrings, 380 pistol, $100.00 worth of change in a popcorn can, a wood box with miscellaneous items, and a gold wedding band. Investigation continues.
April 4, answered a call to Highway 341 in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a piece of rubber tire was lying in the roadway and he struck the tire with the bottom driver’s side bumper.
April 4, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to affray. A complainant and known offenders began to argue and became very aggressive. William Thornton, age 42, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
April 4, answered a call to River Loop Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) pried open his front door and had taken a flat screen TV with a built-in glass case on the bottom. Investigation continues.
April 4, answered a call to U.S. Highway 1 South in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that person(s) unknown had stolen the lead and grand wire off of a portable welder at his job. Investigation continues.
April 4, answered a call to Hilltop Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated the unknown person(s) stole her deer stand. Investigation continues.
April 5, answered a call to Brenda Kaye Yawn Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated a known offender pushed his was into the residence, and into her bathroom, where he began to get aggressive.
April 5, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road in reference to an alarm. A complainant stated they were asleep when the alarm sounded, and was unsure if someone had attempted to open the door or if the wind from a rainstorm blew it open and closed it. There was no evidence of forced entry.
April 5, answered a call to Oakview Drive in reference to criminal trespassing. A complainant stated unknown person(s) have come on her property twice with a four-wheeler. The second time she heard gunshots coming from the area.
April 5, answered a call to John Lewis Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated that he and a known offender got into an argument at which time the offender hit the complainant. The offender left the residence. The complainant was advised to see magistrate.
April 5, answered a call to Clifton Crosby Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated while she was packing her belongings, and her and the offender got into an argument, and he grabbed her around the neck. Both the complainant and the victim were advised to see magistrate. The offender had left the residence upon officer’s arrival.
April 6, answered a call on Cauley Road in reference to harassing text messages. A complainant stated that the ex-wife was sending harassing text messages. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate.
April 6, answered a call on Ben Carter Road in reference to a civil matter. A complainant stated that the landlord came to the residence discussing child support. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate.
April 6, answered a call on Golden Isles East in reference to a burglary. A complainant said that person(s) unknown kicked in the front door and took two jewelry boxes containing a 1950 class ring, a diamond rings, an emerald ring, a ruby ring, gold bracelets and silver bracelets. Investigation continues.
April 6, answered a call on Gene Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that a vehicle was left parked in the yard and when complainant returned damaged were done to the left rear quarter panel of the vehicle.
April 6, answered a call on Wayne Jones Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that subject(s) unknown pulled her mailbox up out of the dirt and threw it in the field. Investigation continues.
April 7, answered a call on Hatch Parkway North in reference to unwanted persons. Upon arrival, officers found the subject drunk and in the driveway. Earl Williams, age 60, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with public drunkenness, and a municipal court bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
April 7, answered a call on Golden Isles West in reference to theft by taking. Taken was a Bernard’s 3-Pack table valued at $320.00 and a Signature loveseat, valued at $384.00. Subject(s) unknown entered a trailer that is for sale and took the furniture.
April 7, answered a call on Heath Street in reference to a domestic dispute. An altercation was between a father and a son, and there were visible marks on the complainant. Photos were taken of the complainant. Van Chase Sharpe, age 19 of Baxley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and was transported to the detention center. The subject has since been released on bond.
April 7, a routine traffic stop on 1st Street/Central Street resulted in the arrest of Michael Caleb Perry, age 19, of Baxley. Warrants were secured and Perry was arrested and charged with V.G.C.S.A.- oxycodone, drugs to be kept in original container and a seatbelt violation. Perry has since been released on bond.
April 7, answered a call on Patterson Road in reference to a suicide attempt. The victim’s mother and child got into an argument about the child’s privileges. The victim was taken to the Emergency Room to be checked out.
April 7, answered a call on Clint Johnson Road in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated that known subject had been texting him on his phone and was threatening him.
April 7, answered a call on Hoppy Trail in reference to an attempted suicide. Upon officers’ arrival, they found the victim in the bedroom stating he had thoughts of harming himself. Appling EMS was contacted and later transported subject to the Emergency Room for evaluation.
April 7, answered a call on Sandy Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that someone came in the yard and ran over a sign in the yard, which was valued at approximately $50.00.
April 7, answered a call on Red Dot Road in reference to a report. A complainant stated that she had been renting from the offender and she moved out and left a utility building at the residence. When she returned to the residence the utility building was gone. The offender took and pulled the building to his residence. The complainant was advised to see magistrate.
April 7, answered a call on Buck head Road in reference to a dog attack. The complainant stated that the offender’s dog came onto his property and attacked his dog causing injuries. The complainant took the dog to the vet for treatment.
April 7, answered a call on Henry Ryals Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that person(s) unknown took the tag off of her car. Investigation continues.
April 7, answered a call on Ashley Drive in reference to a burglary. Person(s) unknown broke into a residence and took a 40-inch flat screen television, GE air conditioning, and a dining room table. All items were valued at $ 1800.00. Investigation continues.
April 8, answered a call on Patterson Road in reference to a vehicle accident. The officers found a vehicle in the woods 20 feet from the roadway. The driver had apparently lost control and ran off the roadway. No one was around the vehicle at the time of the report.
April 8, answered a call on Piney Bluff Road in reference to a vehicle accident. The driver was traveling down Piney Bluff Road and saw a tree lying in the roadway. The driver hit the tree to avoid hitting the oncoming vehicle and slight damage was sustained to the passenger-side turn light and the passenger-side of the truck.
April 8, answered a call on John Herndon Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated that damage was done to a motor grader that was left parked on the side of the road. Damage was done to the headlight on the front right side. Photos were taken. Investigation continues.
April 8, answered a call on Palmetto Circle in reference to an accident. No injuries were sustained.
April 8, answered a call at the Graham Citgo Station in reference to a child custody incident. The mother of the children advised that the kids did not want to go with their father for the weekend. The complainant was advised to see their lawyer.
April 9, answered a call on Hwy 144 in reference to an accident. The driver was traveling on Highway 144 and ran off the roadway. A culvert marker was damaged as well as a mailbox.
April 9, answered a call on Wayne Jones Road in reference to theft by taking. A complainant stated that a debit card and a blank check had been taken from a purse. Investigation continues.
April 9, answered a call on Gardner Road in reference to an unruly juvenile. The juvenile was stealing cigarettes and began to fight. The Juvenile Authorities were called in reference to this case.
April 9, answered a call on Herrington Road/Graham Zoar Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that an 18-wheeler and backhoe damaged his yard.
April 9, answered a call on Wayne Jones Road in reference to theft by taking. A complainant stated that known offender took a money order in the amount of $287.00 from a purse. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate.
April 9, answered a call on Lake Mayers Road in reference to a disturbance and resulted in the arrest of Julie Mobley, age 42, of Baxley. Mobley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Mobley has since been released on bond.

A complainant stated that person(s) unknown took cable type come-a-longs, chain type come-a-longs, aluminum rims, Milwakee saw, Dewalt straight blade saw, scrap aluminum and copper, Heavy Duty jumper cables, and a gas burning heater furnace for home heating. Investigation continues.
April 9, answered a call on Miles Chapel Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. An altercation was between brothers. The complainant was advised to see magistrate.
April 9, answered a call on King Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated that offender took $100.00 from a wallet and left the residence. The complainant was willing to leave the residence so that there would not be a confrontation. Both parties were advised to see magistrate.
April 10, Answered a call on Piney Grove Church Road in reference to a theft of a vehicle. A complainant stated that someone took a 2006 Ford 150 4X4, black in color. Investigation continues.

April 10, answered a call at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in reference to a runaway juvenile. A juvenile had apparently left the children’s home without permission.
