The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past several days.
Jan. 1 at approximately 5:23 a.m., met with a complainant at Fastrac in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that while he was inside the store person(s) unknown stole his 1992 Ford F-150, described as white in color with red lightening bolts down the sides. The truck was bearing a current Georgia plate PCL8070. The truck has been entered in the GCIC computer network as stolen.
Chief Godfrey gives account of activity
Jan. 1 at approx. 8:17 a.m., answered a call to a Fair Street address in reference to a domestic argument. On arrival the complainant told officers that she and an acquaintance had gotten into an argument that resulted in her getting hit by the acquaintance. The complainant said she made her way out of the home and called 911. After an investigation into the incident, Antonio Lenard Jackson, 22, of Baxley, was arrested on one count simple battery under the family violence act.
Jan. 3 at approx. 5:28 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPCO whom had two subjects detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident were Charlie Edward Glisson, Jr., 34, and Amanda Michelle Whisnant, 27, both of Uvalda, on charges of one count each of theft by shoplifting.
Jan. 3 at approx. 10:07 p.m., answered a call to a Waldon Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that sometime during the night person(s) unknown removed her daughter?s bike from under the carport area. The bike is described as a Panama Jack Beach Cruiser, made by Huffy. It has a yellow frame, brown accents, and has a rack above the rear tire, as well as a cup holder, and has powdered blue rims, with white wall tires.
Jan. 5 at approx. 9:55 p.m., answered a call to a Rogers Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was gone person(s) unknown had entered his home and removed an amount of currency. After an investigation into the incident, Ashley Denise Jones, 26, of Baxley, was arrested on one count theft by taking in connection with the theft.
Jan. 7 at approx. 9:19 p.m., answered a call to an aggravated assault at a N. Main Street address. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was home with some friends, someone knocked on the door, and when the door was opened, two black males, dressed all in black with something over their faces came in and robbed him at gun point. The resident stated while being robbed, one of the males struck him in the head with a pistol. After getting an amount of currency the male subjects fled the home on foot. A search was conducted and a K-9 unit was called in to track the robbers. The robbers tracks ended a short distance from the home, and a further search resulted in no one being found fitting the description of the robbers.
Jan. 8 at approx. 7:08 a.m., answered a call to Sheffield?s Trophies in reference to the glass on the front door being busted out. Officers secured the business, and waited for the key holder to arrive. On the arrival of the business owner and further checking the business, discovered that person(s) after busting the glass door out entered the business and removed the cash register. A search of the area resulted in finding part of the cash register. The part has been sent off for processing of latent fingerprints.
Jan. 8 at approx. 3:43 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPCO who told them that some subjects had attempted to leave the store with two computers in a shopping cart without paying for them. The subjects had left the store through the garden center, where they were confronted by a clerk about paying for the items. The subjects then left the computers in the cart and fled in a Ford Windstar van with a drive out tag. A lookout was posted to other units and surrounding counties for the subjects and the van. In just a few minutes an Appling County Sheriffs Office deputy spotted the vehicle going out Highway 1 South and attempted to stop it. The driver failed to stop and a chase ensued, the chase kept on until it entered into Bacon County, where Bacon County Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and not stopping sped into Pierce County, where the Pierce County Deputies, along with the Georgia State Trooper ended the chase by pitting the vehicle. Both subjects in the van were taken into custody without further incident. Both the driver, Donald E. Roberson, 60, of Hoboken, and a passenger, Macie Price, 38, from Waycross, were transported back to the Appling County Detention Center on charges of one count each of felony theft by taking in connection with this theft. Numerous traffic charges are also pending against Roberson from the other agencies that were involved in the incident.

Arrested in connection with this incident was Tabitha Corey Hutchison, 26, of Hazlehurst, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Jan. 8 at approx. 10:47 p.m., answered a call to Captain Joe?s in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the complainant who told them that while she was at work person(s) unknown had busted out a window on her vehicle and entered it and removed her purse and its contents. The purse is described as being camouflage in color.
Jan. 9 at approx. 7:12 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPCO whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Kailee Maree Krafczyk, 22, of Baxley, on one count theft by shoplifting.
Jan. 9 at approx. 9:56 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPCO whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Millette Carter Beasley, 45, of Baxley, on one count theft by shoplifting.
Jan. 11 at approx. 12:20, answered a call to Danny?s Billiards and Game Room in reference to a burglary. On arrival the manager told officers that while he was closed, person(s) unknown burglarized his business and stole two cash registers, along with the keys to his pool tables and a wood grain guitar. After reviewing surveillance videos and a brief investigation into the incident, Brian Lee Magee, 17, of Baxley, was arrested on one count of burglary in the second degree in connection with this incident. Both cash registers and the guitar have been recovered and released back to the owner.
