Martha Peavy Howell
Martha Peavy Howell, 93, of Lyons, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. A native of Toombs County, she was born Aug. 12, 1919, to the late Robert Andrew Peavy and the late Daisy Holland Peavy.
She was the oldest member of Marvin United Methodist Church. Ms. Howell was preceded in death by her brothers, Little R. A., Charlie, Buck and Pickett Peavy and sisters, Corinne Peavy and Sena Peavy Peebles.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Howell of Lyons and five nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 from the Marvin United Methodist Church of Lyons. Interment followed in church cemetery with the Revs. Bill Lee and Michael Kennedy officiating.
Active pallbearers were Charles James, Josh Dasher, Bob Clark, Eric Clark, Chris Braddy and Jason Braddy.
Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Carter, Wayne Kirkley, Jr. Kirkley, Bill Jones, Irvin Pye, Robert Jones, Charles Braddy, Frank Toler, Albert Darley, Mickey Lynn and Bill Hammock.
Remembrances may be made to Marvin United Methodist Church or Community Hospice of Vidalia.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
